B.C. Lions News Release
(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club announced today that import wide receiver Airese (Air-eez) Currie has been added to the team's practice roster.
Currie was originally selected in the 5th round of the 2005 NFL Draft by Chicago (140th overall). He appeared in two games over two seasons before being released by the Bears. This past June, Currie was assigned to play with Frankfurt of NFL Europa after signing with the Seattle Seahawks.
Currie enjoyed a successful four-year career at Clemson University (2001-04) and finished tied for 7th on the Tigers all-time list for receptions (138) and 6th in receiving yards (2,030) while totaling 10 TD's. As a senior, he became the school's first receiver to earn first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors since 1991 after establishing career highs with 61 catches (No. 6 on Clemson single-season list) and 868 receiving yards while starting all 11 games.
Currie was also a three-time All-ACC sprinter during 3 seasons of track-and-field at Clemson and won the NCAA East Regional title in the 100m (10.29) in 2003 and earned All-American honors in 2002 as a member of the 4x100 meter relay team that won the ACC title and finished 2nd in the nation at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
