July 18, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Ottawa Lynx News Release
OTTAWA - Nine lucky fans will play a three-inning game with Expos alumni Dennis "Oil Can" Boyd, Warren Cromartie, Delino DeShields, Claude Raymond at Lynx Stadium before the Gowlings Tribute to the Expos, presented by the National Capital Amateur Athletics Association, Sunday, July 22nd.
The nine Expos superfans who will face former Expos stars are Dave Stubbs from Nepean, Montreal's Don Melville, Louis-Philippe Cartier from Granby, Quebec, Rafael Mejia from Montreal-Nord, Ottawa's Carl Kiiffner and Bob Moffatt, William Rosenberg from Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, Quebec, Rockland's Daniel Côté and Bruce Murdock from Orleans.
Joining the Expos against this team of fans will be Ken Evraire and Dash Read from A-Channel, Team 1200's Stuntman Stu, Dan Seguin from CBC TV, The Ottawa Citizen's Darren Desaulniers, Don Brennan from The Ottawa Sun and Marc Brassard from Le Droit.
"Growing up as an Expos fan it will be an honour to embarrass myself in person with my lack of ability at the plate," said Stuntman Stu.
"I'm looking forward to the opportunity. We'll just take it one inning at a time. I'm just out there to support my teammates and with the good lord willing, everything will work out for the best. There's no I in Team," Desaulniers said.
"When I played ball, I had a cannon for an arm. Unfortunately, after four elbow operations, I'll have to rent a cannon for Sunday's game. If the ball comes to me, just run!" Read said.
The game is open to the public and starts at 10:45am.
Young baseball fans can sign up for a baseball clinic with Warren Cromartie tomorrow, Thursday, July 19th. The clinic for kids 14 and under runs from 10am 12 noon and costs $20 or $22, including a ticket to Sunday's game. Space is limited to the first 100 kids registered. Please call 613-747-5969 x 237, 234 or 236 to reserve your spot today!
