
Clippers Power Past Braves

Richmond, VA - The Columbus Clippers beat the Richmond Braves 10-7 at The Diamond Wednesday night. The Clippers smashed four home runs to overcome a four run deficit and win the first of a two game series.
The Clippers scored twice in the top of the first inning on a two-run homer by Kory Casto. Richmond responded by batting around in the home half, scoring five runs. Martin Prado, Pete Orr, and Wes Timmons chased runs home with singles. Corky Miller knocked in two runs with a single. The Braves tacked on a run in the second to lead 6-2 on an RBI single by Carlos Mendez. Michael Restovich cracked a two-run homer in the fourth, and followed that with a two-run shot in the fifth to tie the game at six. The Clippers took the lead on a Brandon Harper home run in the sixth. The Clippers added two more runs in the sixth on RBI singles by Alex Escobar and Larry Broadway to take a 9-6 lead. Richmond picked up a run in the bottom half when Graham Koonce laced a pinch-hit triple and scored on a Gregor Blanco ground out. But the Clippers added insurance in the eighth when Melvin Dorta tripled and scored on a Casto sac fly.
Brandon Claussen picked up the win. Chris Booker notched his 24th save. Ryan Basner took the loss. Prado and Miller each had two hits for the Braves. Broadway had three hits and Restovich knocked in four runs for the Clippers.
