Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

WICHITA, KS - The Lincoln Saltdogs evened their series against Wichita on Wednesday, winning 8-5. Lincoln improves to 32-25, 3-6 in the second half.

Lincoln led pretty much throughout the game, taking the lead in the second inning on a two-run home run by Pat Trettel, his second of the year. Each team scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, with the Saltdogs plating runs on an RBI double by Rafael Alvarez and an RBI single by Phil Hawke. Lincoln added three more runs in the seventh on a three-run homer by Alvarez, and scored their final run in the eighth when Albenis Machado drew a bases-loaded walk.

That proved to be enough run support for Saltdogs starter Tim Brown (7-5), who allowed just two runs over his first seven innings of work. Brown tired in the eighth inning, allowing three more runs before being lifted, but still pitched well enough to earn his seventh win. Chris Thompson struck out the side in the ninth for his 16th save.

Alvarez went 2-for-5 with his fifth home run and four RBI. Juan Camacho finished 4-for-5, Gavin Dickey went 3-for-6, and Hawke ended up 2-for-4 with his RBI.

The two teams play the rubber match of their three-game series Thursday night at 7:05pm. Right-hander Chris Cullen will make the start for the Saltdogs.
