St. Paul 12, Grand Prairie 2
St. Paul DH Ole Sheldon exploded with a huge offensive night, and the Saints handed Grand Prairie its ninth straight defeat. Sheldon finished the game a perfect 3-for-3, including two home runs, scoring four times and knocking in six. RF Edgard Clemente and 2B Brandon Carter also tallied multiple hits for the Saints. Starter Kyle Foster picked up his first win by not allowing an earned run in seven innings. The struggling AirHogs scored twice in the second inning, but couldn't muster any more offense.
Sioux City 14, Sioux Falls 4
The Explorers scored seven times in the first frame, and continued to provide offensive firepower in a 14-4 beating of Sioux Falls. A two-run double by C Ray Serrano and a two-run homer by RF Tim Albers were the big blows in the first, and the Sioux City offense never let off the gas pedal. The offense pounded 19 hits in the game, including three base knocks from each of four different hitters. Explorers starter Ty Marotz earned the win by allowing four runs in seven innings. In the loss, Sioux Falls DH Beau Torbert stayed hot, finishing 3-for-4 with his 13th home run of the season.
El Paso 5, Shreveport-Bossier 1
El Paso scored five unanswered runs in the final three frames in support of starter Shaun Ellis' complete game to clip Shreveport-Bossier 5-1. Ellis, who improved to 8-1, allowed just six hits and one run to keep the Diablos within striking distance, and was the beneficiary of two late rallies. In the top of the seventh, CF Jeff Vincent tied the game with an RBI single, and 2B Hector Bernal gave El Paso the lead with a two-run double. The Diablos added two more in the eighth.
Lincoln 8, Wichita 5
Lincoln built an 8-2 lead, thanks to a three-run seventh inning home run by RF Rafael Alvarez, and held off Wichita to snap the Wingnuts' seven-game win streak. Alvarez's four RBI, and seven combined hits from CF Gavin Dickey and DH Juan Camacho led a Lincoln offense that pounded 15 hits. Saltdogs starter Tim Brown allowed five runs, but lasted 7.2 innings to earn his seventh win of the season, and closer Chris Thompson tallied his 16th save.
Pensacola 9, Fort Worth 5
Pensacola's win streak reached an impressive nine games, as DH John Alonso led the offense in a 9-5 win over the Cats. Alonso tallied four hits, scored three times, and knocked in three, and smacked a two-run homer in the game. Three other Pelicans also managed multiple hits. Starter Dane De Valk earned the win by lasting 6.1 innings and allowing five runs. Fort Worth RF Jeremy Sauceda launched a two-run homer in the loss.
