Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs came up on the short end of a pitchers' duel Thursday night, falling 4-2 to Grand Prairie at Haymarket Park. Both teams had eight hits, but the Airhogs came up with a pair of solo home runs to earn the win in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
The loss spoiled a solid outing for Lincoln's Jason Jarvis (0-4), who made his first start as a professional. Jarvis allowed two runs on four hits in five innings of work, giving up solo homers to Noel Trevino in the fourth and Brandon Carter in the fifth. The home runs turned a 1-0 Saltdogs lead into a 2-1 Airhogs advantage, and they led the rest of the way.
Lincoln scored their first run in the third, when Corey Harrington doubled and came around to score on a single by Skip Adams. Grand Prairie added an insurance run in seventh inning, but the Saltdogs struck back for a run in the eighth on an RBI single by Shea McFeely. The Dogs left two runners on base in the frame, however, and Grand Prairie added a run in the ninth for the final margin.
On the night, Skip Adams finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Anthony Contreras went 2-for-4 with a run scored. McFeely also had a pair of hits for Lincoln.
The Saltdogs and Airhogs play game two of their four-game series Friday night at 7:05. Nate Staggs is scheduled to make the start for Lincoln, while Grand Prairie is expected to send Nat Harris to the mound.
