Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
Justin Phillips pitched a five-hit shutout as the Shreveport Sports defeated Pensacola 9-0 Thursday at Fair Grounds Field. The lefthander from Waco, Texas had a no-hitter until a two-out single by Dylan Parzyk in the sixth inning. The only real threat by Pensacola was in the seventh when they loaded the bases with one out, but Phillips struck out the next two batters. Offensively, the Sports had 14 hits led by Richard Quihuis-Bell with three hits, including a grand slam home run in the sixth inning. Justin Humphries also connected with a three-run home run in the fourth for the Sports. Shreveport and Pensacola will meet in the second game of the four-game series Friday at 7:05 with the broadcast on AM 1130, KWKH.
