November 16, 2010 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Windsor Spitfires News Release

The Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce that the team will be offering yet another exciting community based program, as the second annual Lifestyle Family Fitness and Spitfires Fun Mornings Program will be making its way to a couple of schools in Essex County starting tomorrow (Wednesday, November 17, 2010) morning.

The program's first set of visits will start tomorrow at Essex Public School from 9 - 9:45 am before ending the day at Jack Miner Public School in Kingsville from 10 - 10:45 am.

Windsor Spitfire players and Lifestyle Family Fitness instructors will be visiting a total of 14 elementary schools within Windsor and Essex County during the 2010-2011 season, and will lead a selected group of students within each school in a series of fun and challenging physical exercises. Spitfire players and Lifestyle staff will also speak to children about the importance of exercise and maintaining a good diet to improve one's quality of life.

The players and staff will then provide students with the opportunity to ask health and hockey related questions to the attending representatives from the Spitfires and Lifestyle Family Fitness.

Last season, the Spitfires launched this initiative and visited six local schools before adding several more schools to this year's program.

Last week, the Spitfires kicked off their 2010-2011 Spitfires "Fans and Friends" Community Programs efforts at Queen Victoria Public School and St. Pius X School as part of the team's Adopt-a-School Program. The Spitfires "Fans and Friends" Community Programs initiative has been active since the 2006-2007 season and is comprised of community based projects designed to engage fans within Windsor and Essex County by sending Spitfire players and staff to public events.

The Windsor Spitfires are proud to add the Lifestyle Family Fitness and Spitfires Fun Mornings Program to its growing list of community based programs under the "Fans and Friends" banner offered this season.
