Soo Greyhounds News Release
"The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club, in conjunction with the Sault Area Hospitals (SAH) and the presenting sponsor Kewadin Casinos, are excited to launch the "Kewadin Cares" program in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
The unique program is a first-ever for the Soo Greyhounds while marking the inaugural program of it's kind for Kewadin Casinos north of the International Bridge.
"This announcement builds on our teams' on-going commitment to our community off the ice. We are extremely fortunate to have Kewadin Casinos on-board along with the Sault Area Hospitals to make all of this possible" stated team Director of Public Relations & Communications, Gerry Liscumb Jr. "By bringing Kewadin Cares program to SAH, we look forward to the positive and lasting impression it will have on the youth of our community and our players."
As part of the program, members of the Soo Greyhounds will visit the Pediatric Ward of the Sault Area Hospital on select weekday mornings and spend time with the facilities patients. The Pediatric Ward typically houses newborns to children 18 years of age. For every visit the Hounds make they will provide each child a stuffed animals courtesy of Kewadin Casinos, and a ticket for the child and a parent to an upcoming game courtesy of the Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club.
"It is a great way for Kewadin to become more involved in our communities and make a positive impact on their neighbours" stated Kewadin Casinos Public Relations Director Michelle Bouschor. "Kewadin is so excited to be involved with the Soo Greyhounds on this project to bring some joy to the youth in the Sault. It shows what a great community we live in and we are very glad to be a part of that".
The emphasis of the Kewadin Cares is to help brighten the stay of the many young patients while in the hospital.
"SAH is very grateful to the Greyhounds and Kewadin for giving back to their community. Thank-you to the hockey players for graciously taking time out of their busy schedules to visit the paediatric patients and for their generous donations. Their visits to SAH will really make a positive impact on the patients and will give them a special memory to take home with them" stated Gisele Anderson RN, Manager Maternal Child Program SAH. "We welcome the Greyhounds and Kewadin and look forward to working collaboratively. Go Hound Go!"
The Greyhounds will look to make their visit as part of Kewadin Cares this coming week.
