Iowa Cubs News Release

DES MOINES, Iowa (Aug. 14, 2015) - The Chicago Cubs made a series of transactions today affecting Iowa's active roster for tonight's game against Nashville at Principal Park. Left-handed pitcher Zac Rosscup was activated from the 15-Day disabled list and optioned to Triple-A, and left-handed pitcher Joe Ortiz was released by Chicago.

Rosscup, 27, is 0-0 with an 8.31 ERA (4ER/4.1IP) and nine strikeouts in five games for Iowa this season. He has also appeared in 26 games for Chicago this year, going 2-1 with a 4.30 ERA (11ER/23.0IP) and 25 strikeouts.

Rosscup began the season with Iowa before a recall to Chicago April 14. The left-hander was placed on the major league 15-Day disabled list on June 17 with a left shoulder injury. He was assigned to Double-A Tennessee on major league rehab on July 21 and allowed one run over 2.1 innings across three outings. His rehab was transferred to Iowa on July 28 and he appeared in three games, allowing four earned runs in 2.1 innings with four strikeouts and one walk.

Ortiz, 25, was selected off waivers by Chicago from the Texas Rangers Oct. 6, designated for assignment May 3 and outrighted to Triple-A May 5. The southpaw appeared in 38 games for Iowa and went 3-1 with a 5.24 ERA (32ER/55.0IP) and 25 strikeouts. Ortiz finished 17 games for the I-Cubs and pitched more than one inning in 17 of his 38 outings.

With these moves, Iowa's active roster is full at 25 players plus two players on the disabled list and two players on the inactive list.
