Bees Fall Short against Aces

SALT LAKE BEES (Aug. 13) - The Reno Aces scored five runs after two outs in the sixth inning, as they rallied for a 13-8 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Thursday night. Rafael Lopez hit his first home run of the season in the fifth inning to give the Bees an 8-7 lead, but Reno roared back in the sixth. With a runner at first and two out, Salt Lake reliever Ryan Verdugo walked two batters to load the bases. Peter O'Brien ripped a 1-0 pitch from Verdugo (3-5) into the left field corner for a two run double and give the Aces a 9-8 lead. Mike Freeman would follow with a two run triple with the fifth run coming in on an error.

The Bees were down 7-3 after three before they scored four in the fourth and tie the game on RBI singles by Ryan Jackson and Grant Green, a run scoring double by Kyle Kubitza, his league leading 39th two-base hit, and an error. Green led Salt Lake with four hits, including his third home run of the season, and three runs batted in , while Cowart added three hits, including his sixth homer of the year, and one RBI.
