PAPILLION, Neb. - Despite jumping out to an early lead, the Redbirds allowed four unanswered runs to the Storm Chasers 4-2, falling to Omaha for the third straight game.
For the fourth straight game against Omaha, Memphis jumped on the board first at Werner Park. Veteran first baseman Dan Johnson connected on his 13th home run of the season, putting the Redbirds out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth.
Second baseman Dean Anna drove home the second run for the Redbirds in the fifth inning on a single, scoring Jeremy Hazelbaker who was aboard via a double.
The Storm Chasers erased the Memphis lead in the bottom of the fifth, plating three runs against Redbirds' starter Nick Greenwood.
The 27-year-old southpaw took the loss on Friday, his fourth of the season. Greenwood allowed three runs on five hits, walking none and striking out three.
Omaha would add another run in the bottom of the seventh inning after a Cody Stanley committed a passed ball.
After wrapping up their 13 game road trip, the Redbirds head back home to AutoZone for an eight-game homestand starting Saturday evening. The Redbirds kick-off their homestand by welcoming the Albuquerque Isotopes (Triple-A Rockies) to the Bluff City for the clubs' only series in 2015, followed by a four-game set with the El Paso Chihuahuas (Triple-A Padres).
