Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that LHP Kevin Marnon will rejoin the Kernels from Fort Myers and LHP Jovani Moran has been promoted to Fort Myers. Brian Maloney, Twins Senior Manager of Minor League Operations, announced the move.
Marnon made five relief appearances for the Kernels before being assigned to Fort Myers on May 1st, posting a 2-0 record, 1.46 ERA and one save. In 12.1 IP, he allowed seven hits and three runs (two earned) with three walks and 14 strikeouts. He was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent in 2017 out of Ball State University.
Moran has made 22 appearances (one start) for the Kernels this season, posting a 3-2 record, 2.03 ERA and four saves in five chances. In 44.1 IP, he allowed 25 hits and 11 runs (10 earned) with 27 walks and 70 strikeouts. He was selected by the Twins in the 7th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy in Puerto Rico.
Marnon is active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM home game vs. Fort Wayne. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with three players currently on the DL.
The Kernels begin a six-game home stand tonight against the Fort Wayne Tincaps at 6:35 PM with the gates opening at 5:30 PM. The home stand continues through Monday, July 16th.
