LHP Carson, OF Bernadina Join Isotopes

Left-handed pitcher Rob Carson and outfielder Roger Bernadina joined the Albuquerque Isotopes this afternoon. In corresponding moves, right-hander Pedro Baez was recalled by the Los Angeles Dodgers, and infielder Alex Liddi was sent to Double-A Chattanooga.

Carson joins the Isotopes from Chattanooga, where he was 1-1 with 2.12 ERA in 11 appearances. He is in his eighth season of Minor League ball, claiming a 29-43 record with a 4.36 ERA in 205 appearances. He's struck out 447 and walked 248 in 591.0 innings pitched. Carson made his Major League debut May 18, 2012, with the New York Mets and has appeared in 31 games in the Majors with a 0-0 record and 6.82 ERA. He was originally drafted in 14th round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of Hattiesburg High School in Hattiesburg, MS.

Bernadina signed a Minor League contract with the Dodgers. He has appeared in parts of seven seasons at the Major League level, owning a career .236 batting average with 56 doubles, eight triples, 27 homers and 117 RBI. This will be his first stint in the Pacific Coast League after 10 seasons in the Minors. In 805 Minor League games, he is batting .266 with 130 doubles, 29 triples, 55 home runs and 332 RBI. Bernadina made his Major League debut on June 29, 2008, with the Washington Nationals. He was originally signed by the Montreal Expos in 2001 as an amateur free agent.

Baez was 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 17 appearances for Albuquerque this season, and Liddi hit .219 with eight doubles, six home runs and 16 RBI in 44 games with the Isotopes.
