Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas - LHP Ryan Feierabend recovered from a rocky start to notch in his team-leading ninth quality start of the season Tuesday as the Round Rock Express (46-44) evened up their series with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (41-51) with a 5-4 victory at Dell Diamond.
CF Jason Pridie staked Colorado Springs to a 3-0 lead in the first by blasting his ninth home run of the season. RF Carlos Gonzalez reached on an infield single with one out in the inning and advanced to third on a two-out double by 2B Angelys Nina. The Springs' center fielder followed by hammering a "Pridie" deep three-run shot over the right field wall to put his club on top.
Feierabend (8-5, 4.54 ERA) settled in after the first, allowing just one hit over his next five innings to pick up his eighth win. In six innings, the southpaw allowed just three runs on four hits, while striking out three and walking one.
Round Rock got two runs back for Feierabend in the third, cutting their deficit to 3-2. With one out, 2B Brent Lillibridge, 3B Josh Wilson and SS Luis Sardinas delivered three straight singles to bring across the first run. After a strikeout, DH J.P. Arencibia ripped a double into the left field corner, easily scoring Wilson from second. Sardinas, however, was cut down at the plate as he tried to score from first, ending the inning.
In the fifth, the E-Train turned five consecutive hits into three runs to seize the lead at 5-3. Lillibridge and Wilson got the scoring started with back-to-back one-out doubles to left. After a Sardinas single, RF Bryan Petersen and Arencibia came through with back-to-back singles through the middle to give Round Rock a two-run advantage.
Sky Sox 1B Ben Paulsen doubled home 3B Drew Garcia in the eighth to pull Colorado Springs within a run, but they would come no closer as Express reliever RHP Ben Rowen slammed the door in the ninth for his fourth save this season.
Six players recorded two-hit performances for the Express Tuesday, led by the eight/nine-tandem of Lillibridge and Wilson. Both scored two runs in the victory. Arencibia added a two-RBI night for Round Rock.
On Wednesday, the E-Train will take on the Sky Sox in game three of their four-game series at Dell Diamond. LHP Robbie Ross Jr. (1-1, 5.73 ERA) is scheduled to make his third start for the Express against Colorado Springs LHP Brian Burres (1-3, 6.75 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
