LHP Andrew Dobies Traded to White Sox

Portland, Maine- The Boston Red Sox have traded Portland Sea Dogs' left-handed pitcher Andrew Dobies to the Chicago White Sox for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Right-handed pitcher Kyle Weiland rejoins the Sea Dogs from Single-A Lowell.

Dobies, 27, has appeared in three games for the Sea Dogs this season posting a 0-0 record with a 1.80 ERA. He has spent parts of four seasons with the Sea Dogs including a stint in 2006 where he earned an Eastern League Championship ring with the Sea Dogs. His 70 appearances (10 starts) ranks 15th in franchise history for the Sea Dogs, where he notched a 7-8 career record with the team.

The Wexford, Pennsylvania resident was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the third round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft.

Weiland has made two starts for Portland posting a 0-1 record with a 5.40 ERA. The 23 year-old will start for the Sea Dogs Wednesday afternoon against the Binghamton Mets at 12:00 Noon at Hadlcok Field.
