
Lewis Stymies Roadrunners

EDINBURG, Texas---Alec Lewis pitched a complete game and held the Edinburg Roadrunners scoreless to lead the McAllen Thunder to a 6-0 victory Tuesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
Lewis (2-0) limited the Roadrunners (4-10) to just two hits and struck out seven for his second victory of the season.
The Thunder (7-7) got the scoring started in the top of the second when Adam Matos hit into a double-play that allowed Mike Goss to score from third making it 1-0.
McAllen batted around in the top of the seventh adding to their lead. Wilson Batista hit an RBI single that allowed Dan Coury to score. Then after a fielding error allowed Yordanys Perez to score, Goss followed with an RBI single that drove in Batista extending the lead to 4-0.
A sacrifice fly by Zach Mandelblatt in the top of the eighth allowed Eric Eiland to score from third pushing McAllen's lead to 5-0.
The Thuner added a run in the top of the ninth with an RBI double by Goss that scored Yaibel Tamayo from second to make it 6-0.
Lewis allowed a walk in the ninth to Michael Lewis that ended a streak of 12 straight retired but recorded the final outs of the ninth giving McAllen the 6-0 win.
The Roadrunners and Thunder will play the third game of their four-game series Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Scott Wingo (1-0) is expected to start for Edinburg with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
