
Colts Add to Players to Roster Before Trip to RGV

San Angelo, Texas---The Colts signed two players and placed another two on the active list Tuesday before taking off to begin a four game series at Rio Grande Valley. Manager Doc Edwards placed infielder Austin Lasprilla and outfielder Jareck West on the inactive list, and signed infielder Eddie Browne and left-handed pitcher Cory Patton.
Patton, a 29-year-old from Houston, Texas, is a two-way player, having played first base, outfield and pitcher last year for Fargo-Morehead of the Northern League. On the mound he went 1-1 with a 2.63 ERA in 18 relief appearances, while hitting .279 with two home runs and 29 RBI at the plate. A veteran of four seasons in the Toronto organization, Patton was a sixth round pick of the Blue Jays in 2004.
Browne played for the Ruidoso Osos of the Pecos League to start the 2011 season and comes to the Colts after playing for Las Cruces last season, where Colts hitting coach Bobby Brown managed in 2010.
Lasprilla is hitting .385 with an RBI in three games, while West is hitting .152 with three home runs and five RBI.
