Lewis, Acosta, Fraser Earn Team of the Week Nod After Rapids Finish Atop Western Conference
November 8, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Colorado Rapids News Release
To cap off a historic top of the West celebration, three Colorado Rapids squad members were named to MLS's Team of the Week following their dominant victory over LAFC on Decision Day, including the Rapids' fearless leader.
Striker Jonathan Lewis, midfielder Kellyn Acosta and head coach Robin Fraser earned the weekly honor after clinching a first-round bye in the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs and a Concacaf Champions League spot for 2022 on Sunday.
Lewis' spot at the top of the formation comes at no surprise to Rapids fans after his performance against LAFC. Recording a brace in 56 minutes of play, Lewis connected with the back of the net in both of his on-frame chances.
Acosta, who is making a quick turnaround from club to international play on Friday as the USMNT takes on Mexico in World Cup Qualifiers, tallied one assist on the night. His delivery to Team of the Week counterpart Lewis in the 18th minute started off the scoring for the Rapids, and he recorded two shots in the full 90 minutes of play.
Colorado's nominee for the league's Sigi Schmid Coach of the Year award also got the nod for the Decision Day performance. Fraser has now recorded 30 wins at the helm since taking over on August 31st, 2019. The Rapids are 30-15-14 since his arrival.
