Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Les Reaney has been named to the 2009-10 All-CHL Team. The announcement comes just one day after Rush goaltender Danny Battochio made this season's All-Rookie Team. Both Reaney and Battochio were also selected to the 2009-10 CHL All-Star Team.
"This is a tremendous accomplishment for Les and one that is well deserved," said Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras. "He has been a leader both on and off the ice from day one and we expect more big things from him come playoff time. As a second year pro with his amount of skill and hockey sense, Les is a player with tremendous potential and the sky is the limit for him."
Reaney currently leads the Rush and is tied for 4th in the league with 85 points. The Ceylon, Saskatchewan native also leads the Rush in assists (57), tied for second in goals (28), and third in rating (+22). Reaney picked up the first Rush hat trick at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center on December 5th against the Tulsa Oilers.
Reaney has set numerous records for the Rush this season, including the first five-point game in team history on February 28th against Colorado. The center has also set and continues to add to the new high for points in a season, topping the previous mark of 64.
The second-year pro played in 8 games for Rapid City at the start of the 2008-09 season where he collected 5 goals, including a game-winning goal for the first win in Rush history (10/24 @ CRP).
Reaney played 3 seasons of college hockey for the Niagara Purple Eagles and posted his best numbers during his sophomore campaign. During that 2006-07 season, he amassed 16 goals and 28 assists for a total of 44 points and 80 penalty minutes in 37 games played. In his 3 years and 97 games at Niagara, Reaney totaled 34 goals and 65 assists for 99 points.
Prior to his time at Niagara, Reaney played 4 seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) where he skated for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, Vernon Vipers, and Williams Lake Timberwolves.
