Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Bowling Green, KY - A Patrick Leonard two-out, two-run single in the sixth inning led the Bowling Green Hot Rods (65-44, 27-14) to a 3-2 win over the Dayton Dragons (50-60, 22-19) on Friday night. Andrew Hanse notched the win in his Midwest League debut as the Hot Rods claimed their third straight victory.
Dayton used a two-out, two-run single to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth, but the Hot Rods bounced back with a run of their own in the inning. With runners at first and third base and one out, Leonardo Reginatto lined a single up the middle to plate the Hot Rods first tally.
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Hot Rods loaded the bases against Dayton reliever Wandy Peralta. With two outs in the frame, Leonard blooped a single in front of the Dragons outfield to deliver two runs and the lead for the Hot Rods.
Bowling Green stayed in the lead the remainder of the game thanks to solid work from the bullpen and Marty Gantt's right arm. Hot Rods relievers Hanse, Jose Molina, and Marcus Jensen combined to throw 3.1 innings of scoreless ball, and Gantt threw out Jeff Gelalich at the plate to end the bottom of the eighth inning.
Jeff Ames surrendered two runs in 5.2 innings to earn the no decision as Jensen locked down his fourth save of the season. Thanks to rain cancelling Great Lakes' Friday night contest, the Hot Rods now stand 2.5 games ahead of the Loons for first place in the Eastern Divison.
The nine-game homestand at Bowling Green Ballpark continues Saturday night at 7:05 PM CDT as the Hot Rods begin a four-game series with the South Bend Silver Hawks (D-backs). Bowling Green will give the pearl to LHP Jordan Harrison (2-2, 2.83) to the mound opposite South Bend's RHP Kyle Winkler (2-3, 4.47). Join Chris Kleinhans-Schulz on the call on the Hot Rods Radio Network (1340 "The Ticket" WBGN-AM and 1340wbgn.com). The Forever Communications Pregame Show begins at 6:35 PM CDT.
Enjoy postgame fireworks on Saturday night presented by Candlewood Suites and WBKO. For more details and to secure your tickets, call the Hot Rods Ticket office at (270) 901-2121 or visit BGHotRods.com.
