Legends Win With Ninth Inning Rally

Lexington Legends News Release
The Lexington Legends rallied for three runs in the ninth inning to erase a 1-0 deficit and beat the Savannah Sand Gnats 3-1 in Savannah Wednesday night.
The Sand Gnats scored an unearned run in the first and made it stand up until the ninth. Brian Pellegrini led off with a walk, and was removed from the game for pinch-runner Marques Williams. Steve Brown also walked, and Brandon Barnes reached on a bunt single to load the bases. Andy Simunic hit into a fielder's choice, shortstop to second base, scoring Williams with the tying run. Freddie Hernandez' pinch single brought home Brown with the go-ahead run. Ronnie Ramirez' single loaded the bases again before Jay Austin walked to force in the third run.
Brian Wabick, 2-0 got the win in relief of Robert Bono. Ashton Mowdy pitched a perfect ninth for his second save. The Legends return home for a series against Augusta. The opener is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.
