Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
HAGERSTOWN, MD - Kannapolis snapped their five-game losing streak in dramatic fashion on Wednesday afternoon, beating the Hagerstown Suns 7-5 in 11 innings at Municipal Stadium.
Justin Greene hit a solo home run off of closer Osvaldo Rodriguez in top of the ninth to tie the game, 5-5. The long ball was Greene's fourth of the season and meant the first blown save of the season for Rodriquez.
After a pair of perfect innings from reliever Charlie Burdie (2-3), Kannapolis finished the job, getting an RBI triple from Eduardo Escobar to go ahead. Greene knocked in Escobar to extend the lead to two.
Dan Rememowsky pitched a perfect ninth inning for his fifth save of the season.
The Intimidators had jumped out to an early lead behind Dexter Carter, courtesy of a pair of RBIs for John Curtis. Carter went seven innings and gave up three runs on four hits while striking out nine.
The Intimidators (21-24) were leading 4-3 when Carter came out, but Leroy Hunt gave up two runs in the bottom of the eighth to put the Suns (20-22) on the brink of victory.
Chris Lugo (3-1) took the loss while pitching the final two frames for the Suns.
