Braves and Drive Split Doubleheader

Rome, GA -The Rome Braves and the Greenville Drive split the double header Wednesday afternoon in front of 2,382 fans at State Mutual Stadium. The day was highlighted by Gerry Rodriguez hitting for the cycle in game two.

In game one Rome took and early 1-0 lead in the second inning thanks to a sacrifice fly RBI from Randy Gress. Greenville quickly tied the game in the third on an RBI single by David Mailman. In the fourth, Greenville took the lead 3-1 as Kade Keowen hit a two run homer (5). Rome answered right back with two runs in the bottom of the inning highlighted by Stephen Shults' two run shot (3).

The Drive took the lead for good in the sixth 5-3 as Ryan Lavarnway hit a solo home run (4) and Oscar Tejeda walked with the bases loaded. Stolmy Pimentel (2-3) earns the win while Randall Delgado (1-4) gets the loss. Mitchell Herold picks up his second save.

Rome took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two thanks to a two RBI triple by Gerry Rodriguez. In the third inning the Braves added one run to make it 3-0 on an RBI single by Jesus Sucre. Greenville answered with two runs in the fourth to cut the lead to 3-2 on two run homer by Anthony Rizzo (5), and tied the game 3-3 in the fifth on a solo homerun by David Marks (2). The game remained tied until the bottom of the tenth inning when Gerry Rodriguez completed the cycle by hitting a walk off home run (9) to give the Braves the 4-3 victory. Rodriguez is the first in Rome Braves history to hit for the cycle.

Yeliar Castro (2-2) got the win for Rome, while Felix Ventura (1-2) was the loser for Greenville.
