The RiverDogs loaded the bases on a walk, a bunt single and an error. Hector Rabago followed with an RBI single, and DeAngelo Mack's infield out produced the second run.

Kemp advanced to second on a throwing error by Rabago, and scored one out later on a base hit by Grant Hogue. Hogue took second on the throw to the plate, stole third, and came home on a wild pitch by Charleston starter Sean Black to give the Legends a 4-2 lead.

The RiverDogs evened the score in the sixth. Taylor Grote's double scored Rob Lylerly, who had singled, and Grote came home on Kelvin Castro's two-out single.

In the Lexington eighth, Meyer and Kemp singled, and Garcia sacrificed the runners to second and third. Hogue lined out to first, but Altuve followed with his tie-breaking, two-run single. Goebbert's ninth-inning blast to right center field followed J.D. Martinez' leadoff single.

Kirk Clark (1-0) picked up the win in relief. He pitched the seventh and eighth innings and allowed no runs while striking out four batters and walking two. Charleston reliever Francisco Rondon (0-1) took the loss.
