Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
The Kannapolis Intimidators scored their first runs of the 2010 season, however it was not enough for the third straight game as they dropped the contest to the Rome Braves by the score of 6-3.
Lefty Brett Oberholtzer started the game for the Braves (0-3) and he pitched well through four scoreless, allowing five hits, but not pitching enough innings to pick up the decision. Paul Clemens (1-0), who allowed two runs, one earned in two innings got the decision. Robinson Lopez relieved Clemens and allowed a run over two, and Cory Rasmus picked up his first save of the season with a clean ninth, allowing a hit while striking out two.
Cameron Bayne (0-1) went 4.2 innings in his debut and allowed nine hits and six runs, four earned. Bayne went the first three innings unblemished but then allowed two in the fourth and four in the fifth as he was sacked with his first loss of the season. Again the Intimidators bullpen was successful though as they went the remaining 4.1 scoreless with 1.1 from Drew O'Neil, two from Matt Hopps and one from Garrett Johnson.
Kyle Rose, the Braves leadoff hitter put together a three-hit night while Mycal Jones, the two-hitter, had two runs, two doubles and two RBI in the ballgame.
Daniel Wagner had hits in his first two at-bats and ended 3-for-5 on the day. Both Ian Gac and Nick Ciolli had a pair of hits. Gac hit an RBI-double and an RBI-single whole Ciolli tripled and scored on a wild pitch.
The Intimidators snapped their 18 inning scoreless streak in the fifth inning and scored in three consecutive innings.
The two teams will conclude their series on Sunday with a 5:05 pm start as lefty Matt Wickswat will make his Intimidators debut in 2010 and he will be opposed by righty Arodys Vizcaino, also making is 2010 debut.
