
Legends Swept by Hickory Before Return to Lexington

L.P. FRANS STADIUM (Hickory, NC) - The Lexington Legends were doubled up by the Hickory Crawdads in the series finale, falling 4-2. The Legends overall record now sits at 8-5 and the Crawdads improve to 4-8. Garrett Davila (0-1) was given the loss and Tyler Phillips (1-2) was awarded the victory.
Hickory got on the board first in the third inning. Ryan Dorow led off with a home run to left field, putting the Crawdads up 1-0. Davila then walked Chad Smith. Yohel Pozo singled to right field, and Smith advanced to third base. Melvin Novoa grounded out to third, but Smith scored and Pozo advanced to second on the play, and Hickory led 2-0 after the third.
The Crawdads plated two more runs in the fifth. Novoa led off the inning and was hit by a pitch by Holden Capps. With Novoa on first, Gonzalez two a two-run homer over the left field wall, extending Hickory's lead to 4-0.
The Legends were able to score in the seventh. Back-to-back singles by Travis Jones and Dennicher Carrasco put runners at first and second. They were both able to move up a base on a wild pitch by Hickory's Alex Speas. Sebastian Rivero then roped a two-run single down the left field line, cutting into the Crawdads' lead, 4-2. The Legends were unable to plate anymore runs after the seventh.
Garrett Davila tossed 4.0 innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out, and walking, three. Holden Capps pitched in relief, throwing 4.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out two and not walking a batter.
The Legends return to Whitaker Bank Ballpark on Thursday, April 19 at 7:05 p.m. to face the Hagerstown Suns. The Legends, a Class A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and member of the South Atlantic League, play all home games at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington, Kentucky.
