Hickory Crawdads News Release

Hickory, NC - The Crawdads closed out a three game sweep over the Lexington Legends with a 4-2 win. It was the first sweep of Lexington at the Frans since 2006.

Scoring kicked off in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a homerun by 'Dads shortstop Ryan Dorow. The Crawdads added another run to give them a 2-0 lead on a groundout by designated hitter Melvin Novoa that scored right fielder Chad Smith.

The 'Dads padded their lead in the 5th on a two run homerun by center fielder Pedro Gonzalez. Gonzalez, ranked as the number 19 prospect in the Rangers organization, already has two homeruns on the season after hitting 3 during the 2017 season and 2 in 2016.

Crawdads starter Tyler Phillips finished the morning with six shutout innings. The righty tallied 8 strikeouts no walks and 4 hits allowed.

The Legends rallied for two runs in the seventh off Alex Speas. Speas struck out the side while reaching 97 mph on the radar gun. Righty Joe Barlow pitched the last two innings, shutting down the Legends offense and recording his first save since the 2016 season.

The Crawdads next homestand will kick off Monday, April 23rd, with Make a Difference Monday against the Greensboro Grasshoppers at 6pm. Tickets are available at: https://www.etix.com/ticket/p/7363382/hickory-crawdads-vsgreensboro-grasshoppers-hickory-lpfrans-stadiumhickory-crawdads
