Lexington Legends News Release

(GREENVILLE, S.C.) A six-run fourth inning gave Lexington the lead, and the Legends, despite committing eight errors in the game, held on for an 8-6 win over the Greenville Drive Monday night.

The start of the game was delayed one hour and 28 minutes due to rain.

After Greenville had taken a 2-0 lead with a run in the first inning and a solo homer by Nick Longhi in the third, the Legends struck back in the fourth. Humberto Arteaga led off with a single, and Ryan O'Hearn followed with a two-run homer, the Legends' first home run of the 2015 season. After Samir Duenez drew a walk, Brandon Downes popped out to shortstop, but Wander Franco and Chad Johnson walked, loading the bases. Carlos Garcia was hit by a pitch, forcing home a run and giving Lexington a 3-2 lead. A single by Alfredo Escalera brought two runs home, and Garcia also came around to score on an error by left fielder Derek Miller.

An RBI single by Cisco Tellez in the bottom of the fourth made the score 6-3, but Wander Franco's two-run single in the top of the fifth gave the Legends a five-run margin at 8-3.

Greenville answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth, but there was no further scoring.

Ashton Goudeau (1-0), who relieved starter Zach Lovvorn with two outs in the fourth inning, pitched two innings and got the win.

Greenville starter Michael Kopech (0-1) was the losing pitcher.

Game two of the three-game series will be played Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m.
