Legends Lead Throughout for Fifth Straight Win
December 4, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
Texas Legends News Release
Frisco, TX (December 4, 2010) - The Texas Legends led from the tip-off until the final buzzer on Saturday night against the Tulsa 66ers, winning their fifth game in a row, 110-99, at HP Court inside Dr Pepper Arena.
The Legends jumped out to an early lead and completely dominated the first half of the game going into halftime on top 61-42. Texas took advantage of some costly mistakes by the 66ers in the first half, scoring 24 points off of 17 Tulsa turnovers.
Things got dicey late in the game, after Tulsa head coach Nate Tibbetts was ejected for arguing a foul call in the third quarter. Tulsa would draw themselves within two, as they trailed 97-95 with just over four minutes to go in the game. However, the Legends would outscore Tulsa 12-3 to finish the game and complete the victory.
Texas had five double-digit scorers, including Dallas Mavericks assignee Dominique Jones who had 18 and the team's leading scorer, Sean Williams, who put in 19.
The Legends improved to 5-1 with the win, as they have not lost since the first game in franchise history on November 18. Tonight Texas completed a perfect 3-0 season opening home stand. Also, it was the first time this season that the Legends have held their opponent under 100 points all season, while Texas has scored 108 or more in each contest. The 66ers dropped to 3-3 on the year with the loss.
Only two teams in the D-League, the Iowa Energy and Reno Bighorns, have a better record than the Legends. Both teams are 6-1 on the year.
Texas will now head back out on the road as they will go to Fort Wayne, Indiana to take on the Mad Ants next Saturday and Sunday. The tip time for Saturday is 6:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Great tickets for all Legends home games are still available by calling (214) 469-0822 or emailing the team at info@texlegends.com.
