Bighorns Fall to 6-1 with 91-84 Loss to Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.-Despite a huge night from D.J. Strawberry, the Reno Bighorns lost their first game of the season Saturday night, as the Sioux Falls Skyforce toppled the Bighorns in Sioux Falls Arena, 91-84.

The Bighorns lead early, holding a 25-19 advantage after one quarter, but Sioux Falls held the 'Horns to just 11 points in the second quarter to take a 39-36 halftime lead.

The Skyforce extended the lead in the third, taking a 61-41 lead midway through the period. The Bighorns would fight back in the fourth, cutting the Skyforce lead to 87-84 with 2:20 left in the game, but Sioux Falls would score the game's final four points to hand Reno its first loss of the season.

D.J. Strawberry led the Bighorns in scoring with 21 points, while Aaron Miles chipped in with 14 points and eight assists. Chris Davis added 10 points of the bench for Reno, which failed to break the 90-point threshold for the first time this season.

Raymond Sykes led a balanced Sioux Falls attack with 17 points, while Anthony Mason added 13 points and eight boards for the Skyforce.

Reno returns home Friday, Dec. 10, for a Friday/Saturday back-to-back against the defending champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Both games next weekend tip off at 7 p.m. PT.
