Jam Bounce Back Against Stampede

BAKERSFIELD - The Bakersfield Jam's strong start to the third quarter established control of the game and helped them pull away from the Idaho Stampede on Friday night and win 125-111. The Jam were led by their star back-court duo of Trey Johnson, who finished with game-high 29 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists, and Jeremy Wise with 28 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists.

Jeremy Wise carried Bakersfield in the first half by scoring 20 points on 7-10 shooting, including hitting a jumper to tie the game at 57 to send it into halftime. Trey Johnson scored the first 10 points of the 3rd to give the Jam a lead as they took control of the game. Idaho made a few runs and hung on to the end, being down by as little as 3 going into the 4th quarter.

Bakersfield had solid bench contribution this evening from guard Stephen Dennis who finished with 19 points and 6 assists. Kenny Taylor added 14 points, including 4 3-pointers, and Marqus Blakely contributed 14 points on 5-7 shooting and had 5 rebounds.

Stampede was led by forward Carlos Wheeler with a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. Lance Hurdle added 18 points and had 7 assists coming off the bench. Salim Stoudamire finished the game with 16 points on 6-11 shooting.

The teams face off again tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
