Skyforce drops second straight to Energy

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Iowa Energy defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 113-103 at the Sioux Falls Arena on Friday night. Minnesota Timberwolves assignee Jonny Flynn nearly posted a double-double (eight points, nine assists) for the Skyforce in his first game since hip surgery in July but Iowa had six players in double figures to pick up their second straight win against Sioux Falls.

Sioux Falls (1-5) trailed for much of the opening quarter but was able to take a five-point lead (61-56) into the locker room. Iowa tied the game two minutes into the second half and eventually took a 93-77 lead into the final stanza after outscoring Sioux Falls 37-16 in the quarter.

Sioux Falls would not go down without a fight as they cut the deficit to three points (98-95) with just over six minutes remaining in the contest. Iowa was able to push the lead back to double figures and held on to improve their Eastern Conference-best record to 6-1.

Kyle Weaver nearly posted a triple-double with 30 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Courtney Sims posted 21 points and Curtis Stinson added 16 points and 11 assists.

Chris McCray scored a season-high 20 points while Leemire Goldwire and Miami HEAT assignee Dexter Pittman recorded 18 points apiece. Pittman added a season-high 15 rebounds for his second straight double-double.

Sioux Falls takes on the undefeated Reno Bighorns tomorrow night at home at 7 p.m. CT. Iowa returns home to face Dakota on Sunday at 4 p.m. CT.
