Legends Hand Squadron First Loss

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Texas Legends (2-2) continued their road trip with a visit to Birmingham and handed the Squadron (3-1) their first loss of the season 119-105.

The game stayed close for the first three quarters. Birmingham went on a 12-2 run midway through the first to take their largest lead of the game (+10) eight minutes in. Texas responded with a 14-2 run to gain a 25-23 edge at the buzzer. The Squadron would tie it up two more times before the break but the Legends stayed in control. Back-to-back threes from Jelly Walker gave Texas their largest lead of the half (+10) and helped them maintain a five-point advantage heading into the locker room. Joe Wieskamp powered out 10 of his 15 points in the fourth as Texas hit a 21-10 run to build up an 18-point lead. Texas answered every comeback attempt and held onto the double-digit gap through the final seconds.

AJ Lawson led the Legends with 24 points while Jelly Walker knocked down 6-of-11 outside for 22 points, 5 assists. Greg Brown III finished with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks, and Joe Wieskamp added 15 points, 3 rebounds. Theo Pinson tallied 12 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals, and Dexter Dennis wrapped up the double figures with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Devin Cannady led the Squadron with 24 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists, and Trey Jemison grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds. Landers Nolley finished with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and Jalen Crutcher and Dereon Seabron added 15 points each.
