
Herd Completes Sweep with Fourth-Quarter Rally

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, beat the Iowa Wolves 109-104. The Herd grabbed the upper hand at the beginning of the first quarter, but the Wolves pulled ahead to take the edge 27-25 at the break. The teams broke out in a battle during the second quarter resulting in two lead changes and five times tied. The Herd rallied to even the game at the half 52-52 after shooting 42.3% from the field. Iowa took control of the game in the third quarter creating a double-digit lead at the break. The Herd powered back from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter outscoring the Wolves 41-21 while shooting 77.8% in field goals. The team secured four clutch free throws to earn the win.
Iverson Molinar guided the Herd to the win by posting 19 points with 15 points coming in the fourth quarter. Stevie Thompson Jr. added 18 points while Elijah Hughes followed with 15 points. Wenyen Gabriel brought in a double-double in the form of 11 points and 17 rebounds.
The Iowa Wolves were led by the pair of Phillip Wheeler and Nojel Eastern with 20 points each.
The Wolves converted the first points of the game, but Wenyen Gabriel responded quickly to tie the game. Iowa took the lead back, but Drew Timme followed with two consecutive baskets to bring the Herd within one. The Herd stayed close until the Wolves pushed ahead by nine at the two-minute mark. The Herd rallied with a 9-0 run with Alex Antetokounmpo slamming home the game-tying dunk. Iowa grabbed one more basket before the break to go up 27-25.
Iowa made a jump shot to open the second quarter. Kihei Clark and Alex Antetokounmpo combined for four points to tie the game 29-29. Wisconsin put away two more baskets and took its second lead of the game. The Wolves didn't retreat and ran away with an eight-point advantage with five minutes remaining. The Herd bounced back with consecutive three-pointers to come within two. The teams battled by trading baskets until Glenn Robinson III hit a three to tie the game. The score at halftime remained tied 52-52. Drew Timme propelled the Herd with 12 points in the first half.
The Herd came out of the half on fire outscoring the Wolves 6-2 to go up 58-54. The Wolves bounced back scoring the next ten points to grab the upper hand. Stevie Thompson Jr. put a pause in the run with a three-point basket, but Iowa continued to increase its lead to double digits and held on to end the third quarter up 83-68.
Iverson Molinar started the fourth quarter by scoring five straight points. The Herd ran with energy scoring nine unanswered points to come within one point. Iowa interrupted the run with a free throw to keep them on top. The two teams traded baskets until Iverson Molinar tied the game 95-95 with an easy layup. Iowa stepped up once more before Iverson Molinar hit a three to put the Herd on top. The Wolves hit one last shot before Elijah Hughes and Glenn Robinson III secured two free throws each to lock down the win.
The Herd returns tomorrow night at home to take on the Sioux Falls Skyforce at 5:30 p.m. CST.
