Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX, (Mar. 13, 2014) - The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), are proud to announce a night that honors an organization dedicated to educating and nurturing the youngest victims of homelessness in Dallas, children six weeks to five years old. Vogel Alcove night this Friday, March 14th, will be celebrating the Alcove's 27th year as a stand-alone entity.
"Vogel Alcove serves 115 homeless children in our childcare center each day, and with a recent move to our new school, Vogel Alcove at City Park, we can now increase our enrollment. We offer children a chance to learn and develop in a nurturing environment, but we can't do it alone" commented Vogel Alcove Director of Marketing Sammy Gonzalez. "Partnering with the Texas Legends has been a great way to gain exposure in areas of the Metroplex we have yet to reach. We are excited to showcase our organization to a new audience and hope to raise awareness of the growing number of homeless families in Dallas. By increasing awareness, we hope to increase donations and volunteer opportunities to help us Move the Mission in 2014."
The Legends will wear customized jerseys celebrating Vogel Alcove, uniquely branded with both the Legends logo and the Vogel Alcove logo. Select jerseys will be available via a silent auction during the game, with all proceeds going back to Vogel Alcove. The organization will also raffle off a game-worn jersey and tickets to their 23rd annual Arts Performance Event featuring Diana Ross. As part of the festivities of the night, select representatives from Vogel Alcove will be recognized as "Legends of the Night."
The Legends will face the Maine Red Claws at 7pm on March 14th. This will be the first and only matchup between these two teams in the regular season. The Red Claws come to Frisco with a 17-23 record holding third place in the East Division. Maine is led in scoring by Frank Gaines who averages 20.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
