Frisco, TX (Jan 14, 2014)--The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), have acquired guard P.J. Hairston from the University of North Carolina.

Hairston (6-6, 220) will be the first player to enter the NBA Development League mid-season after having been enrolled in college to start the 2013-14 season. In 2011 Hairston was chosen a McDonald's All-American and Parade All-American. As a sophomore at North Carolina, he led UNC in scoring and was 10th overall in the ACC with 14.6 ppg while averaging only 1.2 turnovers.

"We are excited to add a player like PJ Hairston," commented Legends Owner and Dallas Mavericks President of Basketball Operations Donnie Nelson. "PJ has been on the NBA radar for a number of years now, and the opportunity for him to develop and showcase his ability with the Legends is unique. We are surrounding PJ with all of the necessary tools to prepare himself for the NBA Draft. I am excited to see him in a Legends uniform this weekend."

"I'm extremely grateful that the Texas Legends organization believes in my abilities, and thank them for signing me to their team" commented Hairston. "I intend to take full advantage of this opportunity. This is another positive step towards accomplishing the goals I set out for myself. This is an exciting time."

Hairston is expected to be in uniform for the Legends home game against the Austin Toros this Saturday, January 18th, at 7 pm. For tickets or information call 214-469-0822.
