Springfield Armor News Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - One in every eight women will fight against breast cancer in their lifetime, according to the American Cancer Society. An estimated 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer were diagnosed in women in 2013, but the Springfield Armor, presented by MGM Springfield, will look to aid in the fight against breast cancer with the team's annual 'Paint it Pink Night' on January 24 at 7:00 p.m.

The MassMutual Center will be turned pink in honor of 'Paint it Pink Night' as the Armor, in conjunction with Rays of Hope (a branch of Baystate Health Center), will look to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer services and research during their annual event.

"We are proud and honored to continue this long-standing partnership with Rays of Hope for such a meaningful cause," said Armor president Alex Schwerin. "Rays of Hope continues an illustrious mission in the fight against breast cancer and for us as an organization to aid in that battle is extremely important. We want to not only recognize the brave people that continue to fight, but also help in the funding of research and awareness."

The night will include honoring survivors on the court as those that have and are continuing to fight breast cancer stand proudly in recognition of their valiant effort. Several pieces of one-of-a-kind memorabilia from both the Armor and the Brooklyn Nets featuring Kevin Garnett, Willie Reed, Dennis Horner and more will be auctioned off as well as a 50/50 raffle with the proceeds benefitting Rays of Hope's cause.

"We are honored to be partnered with the Springfield Armor in their commitment to giving back to the community," said Baystate Health Foundation's Manager of Fundraising Events Michelle Graci. "Rays of Hope touches so many lives in Western Massachusetts and Paint It Pink Night allows us to continue to do so while also bringing awareness to breast cancer and a celebration of survivorship."

In an effort to truly turn the MassMutual Center pink for the night, all fans are encouraged to wear pink to show their support of the cause.

Fans can purchase tickets to 'Paint it Pink' night at www.ArmorHoops.com or by calling (413) 746-3263 or in-person at the MassMutual Center Box Office. The Armor return to the court Wednesday, January 15 at 7:00 p.m. for a midweek road tilt with the Erie BayHawks inside Erie Insurance Arena.
