HERSHEY, PA - Right wing Stefan Legein tallied a shorthanded goal and a power play goal to lead the Manchester Monarchs to a 4-2 victory over the Hershey Bears at the Giant Center on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester (23-19-0-2) is tied with the Worcester Sharks (20-12-3-5) for second place in the Atlantic Division with 48 points. Hershey (24-11-4-3) is tied with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (25-12-1-4) for first place in the East Division with 55 points.

The Monarchs took the lead for good at 3-1 when Legein tallied his second goal of the game. With the Monarchs on the power play, center Marc-Andre Cliche grabbed the puck along the end boards and quickly released a pass to defenseman Patrick Mullen at the top of the right wing face-off circle. Mullen redirected the puck over to Legein who was stationed between the hash marks. Legein one-timed a blast that beat Bears netminder Braden Holtby at 6:49 of the second period.

The Monarchs opened up the scoring at 3:29 of the first period when the puck deflected off a Bears player and into the net. From the right point, defenseman Andrew Campbell wrapped the puck around the boards to the left corner of the Bears zone where left wing Dwight King collected the pass. King spotted both right wing Justin Johnson and Cliche position in the slot. King attempted to slide a pass over to Cliche on the right doorstep. The puck deflected off the skates of a Bears defenseman and into the back of the goal for King's eighth goal of the season.

The Bears tied the game at 1-1 as a Monarchs penalty expired. The Monarchs clearing attempt was kept in by defenseman Julien Brouillette at the right point. Brouillette's slap shot travelled through traffic, deflected off bodies and beat Monarchs netminder Jeff Zatkoff to even the score. Brouilette's eighth goal of the season came at 15:38 of the first period.

The Monarchs took back their lead late in the first period with a shorthanded goal by Legein. With the Bears on the power play, the puck was loose in the neutral zone. Cliche dove along the right wing boards to send the puck up the ice to Legein as the right wing entered the Bears zone. Skating in on a breakaway, Legein carried the puck into the right wing face-off circle before snapping a wrist shot that beat Holtby at 19:11 of the opening frame. The go-ahead goal was Legein's fifth tally of the season and his first shorthanded goal of the season.

The Bears cut the Monarchs lead to 3-2 at 17:09 of the second period with a power play tally. Forward Jacob Micflickier received a pass from center Ryan Potulny before he attempted to carry the puck up the right wing boards. Along the right wing half wall, Micflickier lost control of the puck as the Monarchs put pressure on him. The puck bounced off sticks and slide between the hash marks for center Keith Aucoin's one-timer. Aucoin's one-timer beat Zatkoff on the glove side for his 11th tally of the season.

Center Justin Azevedo added a little insurance for the Monarchs with an empty net goal at 19:51 of the third period. Azevedo picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and shot it into the open net for his seventh goal of the season. King and Cliche tallied assists on the play.

Zatkoff (11-8-1) earned his 11th win of the season stopping 29-of-31 shots. Holtby (14-10-1) took his 10th loss of the season with 15 saves on 18 shots.

Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Hershey was 1-for-7 with the man advantage.

Notables: The Monarchs won their second consecutive game against the Hershey Bears...This is the first time in Monarchs history that Manchester has beat Hershey twice in one season...Center Marc-Andre Cliche tallied three assists in the game...Cliche recorded four points (1-34) in the two games against Hershey...Right wing Stefan Legein scored a shorthanded goal and a power play goal...Legein has collected two tallies in one game twice this season...Center Justin Azevedo is currently on a three-game point streak (2-13).
