Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals have returned defensemen Kevin Quick to the Florida Everblades of the ECHL, Admirals General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
Quick, 23, a 6-foot, 190-pound defenseman born in Buffalo, New York, had been recalled from the Everblades on Friday. He appeared in two games for the Admirals during the recall. In 13 games with Norfolk this season, he has posted two assists, two penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating. He has also appeared in two ECHL games with Florida, posting an assist with an even plus/minus rating.
The Admirals signed Quick to an American Hockey League Standard Player's Contract on June 27, 2011. In 172 career AHL games - all with Norfolk - Quick has one goal and 34 points with 26 penalty minutes. Quick has also appeared in 20 career ECHL games with the Everblades and Augusta Lynx, posting two goals and seven points with ten penalty minutes. He also appeared in nine Kelly Cup Playoff games with the Elmira Jackals in 2009, posting one assist.
Quick has appeared in six career NHL games - all with the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 2008-09 season - posting one assist. A third-round draft pick (78th overall) by the Lightning during the 2006 draft, Quick originally signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Tampa Bay on June 2, 2008.
Before joining the Admirals during the 2007-08 season, Quick played in 21 games at the University of Michigan, where he notched two goals and four points with 12 penalty minutes.
The Admirals return to Scope on Tuesday as they drop the puck on a three-game homestand, beginning with a matchup against the Charlotte Checkers in the fifth game of the GEICO Challenge Cup. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. in another Admirals Value Night.
