Abbotsford Heat News Release

Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat bounced back against the Charlotte Checkers in the second half of a back-to-back set, earning a 5-2 victory on Saturday night at the AESC. After a scoreless opening frame, Charlotte took a 2-1 lead into the third as the Checkers tallied twice in the second period while the Heat also netted one courtesy of Clay Wilson who got his seventh of the season while sporting the `C` for the home club. The Heat came out hard in the third and scored three straight goals before the halfway point of the frame to take a 4-2 lead. The tallies were scored by three players who each got their first goals of the season as Robby Dee, Carter Bancks and James Martin potted the markers for the Heat. Dustin Sylvester added an empty netter to secure the victory for Abbotsford while netminder Joni Ortio, who got the nod in goal in place of Danny Taylor who had started the previous 17 games between the pipes, stopped 34 of 36 Checker shots to earn his first win of the season.
