Laredo Bucks News Release
(LAREDO, TX) -- The Laredo Entertainment Center today announced a change in the arena's parking system, to include a per-car charge for parking on the LEC premises.
The LEC announced a $5 charge will be implemented for each parking space at a family show, trade or exhibit-type show, and Laredo Bucks or Laredo Lobos game (including tailgaters). An $8 charge will be assessed for each car parked at all other ticketed events such as concerts, rodeos, or professional sporting events other than hockey and indoor football. This new procedure will begin on April 1, 2006.
Jalinna Jones, LEC general manager, said that the charge will help cover the cost of operating and maintaining convenient and well-lit parking facilities. The new fee will help ensure that the arena parking areas are available for LEC patrons.
"As Laredo's Entertainment District continues to develop, patrons of our new neighbors might be tempted to park on the arena's premises," Jones said. "This new fee will help to ensure that only LEC event attendees have access to its lots." said. "Every arena of similar capacity in south Texas has been charging for parking for years. We have delayed the inevitable for as long as possible," she said.
There will be two ways that patrons can pay for parking. A parking ticket may be purchased wherever the event ticket is bought via any Ticketmaster location including by phone and online. Patrons may also choose to pay the fee in cash upon entrance to the facility's parking area for an event.
An exclusive entrance and parking area (lot B) will be reserved for all existing "Laredo Bucks VIP" parking pass holders, and each "All Access" parking pass holder for other events. These attendees will not be charged the additional fee until their current plan expires. Suite holders will receive one complimentary parking pass for every two suite tickets purchased. Those event attendees who choose to pre-pay for parking when they buy their event ticket will also use Parking Lot B. All others who wish to pay for parking at the time of the event can use any entrance except Parking Lot B off of Arena Blvd.
Last-minute purchasers for event tickets may enter the parking lot through the utility lane at Gate D off of Sinatra Drive. Temporary parking will be available in front of the building while event tickets are purchased. You will then be directed out and into the regular parking area. Cash only will be accepted at the parking gates. Those who pre-pay through Ticketmaster can use the same method of payment used to buy their event ticket.
The parking fee applies primarily to ticketed events and some other events with special circumstances. There will be no parking charge for private parties, proms, banquets, private meal functions, meetings, training classes and other similar events.
The LEC has always provided parking attendants to assist with traffic flow, and will continue to do so. However, the parking fee does not release any and all liability from the car owner. The fee entitles the purchaser to a parking space on LEC property but, as in the past, the arena will not be liable for any damage or theft.
