CHL Announces 2005-2006 All-Rookie Team

The Central Hockey League has today announced the six members of the 2005-2006 All-Rookie team, determined through balloting among all CHL Head Coaches. Each Coach nominated two players from their club eligible for consideration on the ballot.

2005-2006 All-Rookie forwards named to team include Tulsa left winger Jim Dahl, Odessa right winger Dominic Leveille and Austin right winger Michael Tucciarone. Dahl, from Minnetonka, Minnesota, leads all CHL rookies with 35 goals and 81 points, and shares the rookie power play goal lead of 13 with Leveille. Leveille hails from St. Jerome, Quebec, and leads all CHL rookies with 53 assists while trailing Dahl by just three points in the CHL rookie scoring race. Richmond Hill, Ontario native Tucciarone has recorded 25 goals this season for Austin, including six game winners, which leads all rookies.

Bossier-Shreveport's Dale Lupul and Laredo's Adam Rivet form the All-Rookie defensive tandem. Port Coquitlam, British Columbia's Lupul has scored six goals and added 22 assists for the Northeast Division champion Mudbugs, entering the final week of regular season play with a +24 plus/minus rating. Rivet, from Fort Erie, Ontario, leads the entire CHL with a +39 plus/minus rating and has 16 goals and 22 assists for the Southeast Division champion Bucks.

Laredo's Dov Grumet-Morris was selected as the All-Rookie goaltender, currently leading the CHL with a goals against average of just 2.04. Grumet-Morris has posted a save percentage of .926 this season, trailing only teammate David Lemanowicz with .927, while compiling a record of 17-5-2. A fifth round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the Evanston, Illinois native is a Harvard graduate, where he holds 13 school records and an additional three ECAC marks.

Later today the All-CHL Team will be announced, while the recipients of both the CHL Man of the Year and Rick Kozuback awards will be released on Tuesday. The CHL Coach, Equipment Manager, and Athletic Trainer of the Year winners will be revealed on Wednesday, followed by the Most Outstanding Defenseman and Most Outstanding Goaltender on Thursday. On Friday, the CHL Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player award winners will be announced.
