2005-2006 All-CHL Team Announced
Published on March 20, 2006 under Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
The Central Hockey League has today announced the six members of the 2005-2006 All-CHL team, determined through balloting among all CHL Head Coaches. Each Coach nominated two players from their club eligible for consideration on the ballot.
All-CHL team forwards selected were Youngstown left winger Jeff Christian, Amarillo center Derek Hahn and Colorado right winger Greg Pankewicz. Christian leads the CHL with 52 goals on the season, while Hahn leads all players with both 75 assists and 109 points. Pankewicz, the defending CHL Most Valuable Player, has 43 goals and 42 assists for the defending Ray Miron President's Cup Champions. All three forwards were All-Stars this season and are finalists for the 2005-2006 CHL Most Valuable Player award, along with Wichita's Joe Blaznek, Odessa's Sebastien Thinel and Bossier-Shreveport's Dan Wildfong.
The 2005-2006 All-CHL defensemen are Serge Dube of the Laredo Bucks and Derek Landmesser of the Memphis RiverKings. Dube had 13 goals, 41 assists and a +36 plus/minus rating prior to his call-up yesterday to the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage, while 4-time CHL All-Star Landmesser leads all defensemen with 75 points and 59 assists this season. Both rearguards are finalists for 2005-2006 Most Outstanding Defenseman honors, joined by Oklahoma City's Tyler Fleck, Austin's Aaron Schneekloth, Wichita's Daniel Tetrault and Colorado's Brad Williamson.
Bossier-Shreveport's Ken Carroll earns All-CHL goaltender status this season, currently ranking among the top 10 in the majority of goaltending categories. His four shutouts lead the CHL, and he has posted a record of 20-7-4 in 31 appearances for the Mudbugs, along with a goals against average of 2.31 and a save percentage of .921. Carroll was previously honored as both the Western Professional Hockey League's Most Outstanding Goaltender and Rookie of the Year in the 2000-2001 season, and is a candidate for Most Outstanding Goaltender honors this season.
Tomorrow the recipients of both the CHL Man of the Year and Rick Kozuback awards will be released, followed by the CHL Coach, Equipment Manager, and Athletic Trainer of the Year winners on Wednesday. The Most Outstanding Defenseman and Most Outstanding Goaltender will be revealed on Thursday, with the Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player award winners announced on Friday.
