Modesto Nuts News Release
The California League announced Modesto Nuts right-handed pitcher Rob Scahill (Peoria, Ill.) was named Cal League Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 12-18.
After struggling a bit in the first half of 2010 against Cal League hitters, Scahill was in total control on Thursday, July 15 as the Nuts took on the Lancaster Jethawks. Scahill, in his first full professional season, pitched a complete game, scattered six hits and allowed just one run to notch his sixth win of the year. Scahill, who had never previously gone deeper than seven innings in a game, struck out seven and allowed no walks in the Nuts 6-1 victory.
Scahill's weekly honor marks the second Pitcher of the Week honor for a Modesto Nuts player during the 2010 season, as Juan Nicasio earned the accolade earlier in the season.
