League Disciplines Scorpions And Rage

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]- The Central Hockey League has disciplined the New Mexico Scorpions and the Rocky Mountain Rage for the post game altercation this past Saturday night. The Scorps Kevin Harvey has been suspended for eight games while Blair Stayzer has been suspended for the next three games.

Following the incident, the Scorpions players came to the aid of their injured teammate which ended up involving both teams gathering on the ice. In addition, Rocky Mountain's Jason Schmit has also been suspended for four games due to his involvement in the altercation.

"It was an unfortunate end to a great game played by our team," said Scorpions' head coach Randy Murphy. "We will be playing with a short roster the next few games and expect our players to rise to the occasion."

New Mexico will only be allowed to dress 16 players for the next three games. Stayzer is eligible to play when the Scorpions host Rio Grande Valley on December 15th. The Scorpions will then only be allowed to dress 17 players until Harvey returns from his suspension on Saturday, December 29th, when the Scorpions host the Amarillo Gorillas.

The Scorpions head to the road for games Friday and Saturday night in Odessa. Both games can be heard on 1050 KTBL or seen for free on CHL Network starting at 6:05 p.m.

The next Scorpions home game is on Thursday, December 13th when the Scorpions host the Amarillo Gorillas. The puck will drop inside the Santa Ana Star Center at 7:15 p.m.
