Bossier-Shreveport's DeCaro Named Sher-Wood/CHL Goaltender of the Month

The Central Hockey League announced today that John DeCaro of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs has been named the Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month for the month of November/2007. DeCaro will receive a custom leather jacket from Sher-Wood, the official stick, glove, pant and protective equipment supplier to the CHL to recognize his accomplishment.

DeCaro had a near-perfect month going 6-0-0 allowing just six goals in his six starts for a 1.00 goals against average with two shutouts. The Marysville, Washington native made 166 saves accounting for a .965 save percentage. DeCaro has been the catalyst for the Mudbugs hot play as of late pushing them to an 8-2-1 record in the month of November. The reigning Scott Brower Award winner (CHL's Outstanding Goaltender) was named the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of November 19th-25th when he posted a 2-0 record allowing three goals in the two games.

The 6-3, 217-pound goaltender is in his second professional season and is 30-10-5 with five shutouts and a 2.08 goals against average and a .932 save percentage. This season, DeCaro leads the league with three shutouts, a .936 save percentage and ranks second with his 1.78 goals against average.

Other goaltenders receiving consideration for the monthly award for November include Arizona's Andrew Gallant, Laredo's Dustin Traylen and Kevin Beech, Mississippi's Sebastien Centomo, Rocky Mountain's Scott Reid, Tulsa's Clint Chalmers and Youngstown's Andy Franck.
