Austin Ice Bats News Release

( North Richland Hills, TX ) - For just the second time all season the Ice Bats entered a game having won back to back contests, and they did so by claiming victory in a shootout. Tuesday night they rolled into the NYTEX Sports Center for their third meeting of the year with the Texas Brahmas. The first two decisions were decided by a goal with the Brahmas on the winning side of each score. This time the Brahmas found themselves on the right side of the final score, but a little more comfortably as the final was 4-1, Texas .

Similar to the game in Corpus Christi , the Ice Bats and Brahmas traded possession back and forth and only two goals were scored in the first two periods. Tyler Skworchinski scored his third goal of the year at 17:01 of the first period to give the Brahmas a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

In the second period it was much of the same back and forth, neutral zone play but Blair Manning was able to bang him another Brahma goal to make the score 2-0. That's where the score stood as the teams headed into the second intermission.

The Brahmas took control for good in the third period when Skworchinski scored his second goal of the game to make the score 3-0. Jason Tessier would give the Ice Bats some life with his seventh goal of the season. John Ronan had the assist and it was a power play goal. A turnover in the neutral zone created a two-on-one opportunity for the Brahmas and Jordan Cameron would shut the door on the Bats as he scored to make it 4-1, Brahmas.

Next up for the Ice Bats is a Friday road game against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:35 PM. The game can be heard locally on 1530 ESPN Austin and at espnaustin.com.
