Toronto Marlies News Release

The St. John's Maple Leafs venture into a familiar seaport this weekend when they take on the Portland Pirates tonight and again on Sunday afternoon in American Hockey League action at the Cumberland County Civic Centre. The weekend series will mark the only time this 2003-2004 season that the team plays in New England or in any other city along the Eastern seaboard of the United States after moving to the Northern division of the Western Conference.

St. John's has a current record of 2-4 after finishing with one win and three losses during a brief four game home stand at Mile One Stadium. The Maple Leafs return to the Capital city on Monday to prepare for a two game set with the Milwaukee Admirals on Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

When the Admirals arrive in Newfoundland and Labrador, they will have a highly touted prospect in their lineup in Scottie Upshall, whose family roots are solidly entrenched on Bell Island. Upshall, the captain of Canada's silver medal winning junior team in Halifax was raised in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
