Giving up eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined the Calgary Vipers (23-18) were defeated 9-7 by the Strong Warriors of Maui (16-20) at Iron Maehara Stadium in Maui, Hawaii. Calgary led the game 4-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth when Maui scored five times followed by three more tallies in the sixth frame. In both innings all eight runs scored with two outs. Dusty Gober (4-2) took the loss after getting chased in the fifth inning while Corey Hales (2-1) grabbed the win with five innings tossed and David Dinelli (1) recorded his first save of the season. The Vipers drop to three games back in third place in the North Division.
This series in Maui to take on the Strong Warriors continues on Friday July 8th at 10:35 PM.
The Vipers will return home to Calgary and Foothills Stadium in Tuesday July 12th at 6:30 to take on the Edmonton Capitals.
The Calgary Vipers will be hosting three Women's Pro Fastpitch games between the USAA Pride and the Tennessee Diamonds August 2nd, 3rd and 4th at 6:30 at Foothills Stadium. Tickets are $16 for the Lower Bowl and $12 for the Upper Bowl. Three game packages are also available for $45 and $33. In addition there will be two skill clinics August 2nd and 4th from 10am - 12pm. Cost is $99 for a Clinic and Lunch or $120 for the Clinic, Lunch and two Lower Bowl tickets. There will also be a Lunch Banquet August 3rd including an autograph session with both teams and a lower bowl ticket to the August 3rd game for $49.95 with keynote speaker Cheri Kempf, the Commissioner of the NPF and an ESPN analyst.
